JR’s Fireworks a Big Success

J. R. Duncan wants to extend his thanks to everyone who came out for his second annual Village fireworks extravaganza this year. Special thanks to Clark Wilson and Ken Bonney, who put their all into helping set up, and set off, this over one-hour-long spectacle, which attracted an estimated 300 people all along M-22, in front of the Library, and down at the ballfield.

JR is grateful for the roughly $200 in donations, and especially for everyone’s helping to clean up after the show. Frankfort Building Supply and Big Bob’s Up North Outfitters made donations toward the display, including lumber and other material, and Fireworks Depot donated some of the fireworks.

JR is already planning next year’s show. He was pleased that this year he had it orchestrated so that it was a steady stream of sound and vision with no big pauses. “Next year I’m going to have a third dropper,” he said, “and it’s going to be even more awesome.”—Emily Votruba

I’m so glad everyone enjoyed the show. I was not impressed with fireworks raining down on my house with an infant inside for an hour. My dogs showed their dissatisfaction with vomit all over the bed. Although JR picked up our yard to the best of his ability, I find debris everytime I walk in the backyard. There should be a law against this.
