The Gilmore Township Board regular meeting will be held in the Village Community Building on First Street to make way for the election, which will be held in the Elberta Library.
The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Gilmore residents to vote for school board members for Frankfort–Elberta schools or Benzie Central schools, depending on which district residents pay taxes toward. The FEAS candidates are William Storrer and current school board president Rick Schmitt; Benzie candidates are Tyson Burch and Lorene Hill Cota.
Elections in Joyfield Township on this day concern a recall proposal for three Joyfield Township board members and a millage increase to fund zoning for that township, which currently has no zoning. The recalls and the millage proposal relate to the controversial wind development taking place in Joyfield.
Less controversially, Frankfort, Blaine, and Crystal Lake will vote on whether to lower the library millage and welcome Lake Township among the areas served by Benzie Shores District Library.
Frankfort will also vote to fill three City Council positions. Only two candidates are on the ballot, however (current members Katie Condon and Sandy Jackson), leaving a write-in line open.
